La La Land Screening at AFI Fest Los Angeles: A Journey Back to Destiny

There is a lot of buzz for the upcoming movie La La Land. The movie cast Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are busy promoting their retro musical movie woven at the backdrop of Los Angeles. La La Land has finally made to AFI Fest in Los Angeles, a place where Damien Chazelle’s dream turns into reality.

Unfortunately, the movie screening did not receive positive response. But the movie’s debut screened at Venice Film Festival got a standing ovation. Emma Stone also stole the show through her acting prowess. She bagged the best actress award.

Then there was no looking back at The Telluride Film Festival. La La Land was critically acclaimed and appreciated on all grounds. There was no end to the praises bestowed upon the movie and the people involved in its making. It has received a 96 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but we’ll see how that changes once the movie is released.

It is a love story that revolves round a struggling actress serving cappuccinos at a coffee shop and a jazz composer who makes his living by playing Christmas tunes in restaurants.

Now destiny has taken us to the place where it all began. The cast and crew were present for the screening of La La Land at the TLC Chinese Theater for the film’s AFI Fest Gala screening. Emma Stone was present at the venue and said, “It’s just really exciting to finally be here.”

According to Hollywood Reporter, it was a nostalgic moment for all, especially Chazelle who cannot stop himself from expressing, “Obviously it is a movie about L.A and a love letter to the city and to a lot of old movie theaters that used to exist here, so showing it is really special.”

The movie was filmed at 79 different locations across Los Angeles. Damien Chazelle‘s 2009 feature Guy and Madeline on the Park Bench was also screened at AFI Fest in the TCL Chinese 6. Seven years later, he is here again for his upcoming movie La La Land and already receiving a lot of appreciation, even before its release. Damien Chazelle directed and wrote the script for La La Land. Freg Berger, Gary Gilbert, Jorodon Horowitz and Marc Platt produced the movie. Music was written by Justin Hurwitz.

The movie will hit theaters on December 9, 2016.
